NOTICE TO MARINERS No.9 – 2012

Monday, March 26th, 2012

Temporary Mooring of Met-Mast Monopile in Newhaven

Mariners are hereby advised that the monopile for the Rampion Windfarm Met-Mast installation (Notice to Mariners No.8/2012 refers), will be arriving in Newhaven by Ship on Friday 30th March 2012. The ship will berth alongside the Jack-Up barge Excalibur in the Western Bight and the monopile will be discharged on Saturday morning (weather permitting).

The monopole will then be towed up river and secured alongside the barges at No.2 RoRo, where it will remain until approximately Friday 6th April.

Whilst moored at No.2 RoRo, the monopile will be secured with anchors and exhibit yellow flashing lights.

All vessels are requested to pass at slow speed and keep a safe distance from the area.

Notice to Mariners issued by Fugro Seacore

Please find below the Notice to Mariners issued by Fugro Seacore on behalf of E-ON for installation of a meteorological mast at the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm site.

“Fugro Seacore are contracted by EON to install a Metrological mast at the site of the proposed Rampion Offshore Wind Farm.

The 60mx32m jackup barge ‘Excalibur’ will be used to install the 2.5m diameter monopile foundation and be the base of operations for subsequent mast erection and installation of navigation aids and telemetry systems. Excalibur will be mobilised in Newhaven, where the pile will also be berthed following delivery by flattop barge. The level of the installed platform will be 17.5m LAT and upon completion, will display the requisite navigation aids.

Several vessels will be onsite to assist during the works as required including a vessel undertaking diving operations.

Vessels not involved in the operations are asked to keep a minimum 500m away from the construction jackup and any towing vessels.

Current planned dates:

26th March – 2nd April – Mobilisation of vessel in Newhaven

2nd – 12th April – Installation of Met mast – Pile floated out to Excalibur on 3rd April.

13th -20th April – Demobilisation of vessel

The intended met mast location is 50 41.2N, 000 20.6W. Excalibur will be onsite for duration of main works and will display the requisite navigation lights.

NOTICE TO MARINERS No.8 – 2012

Mobilisation of Jack-Up Barge in Western Bight – Newhaven

Mariners are advised that the Jack-Up Barge Excalibur will be arriving under tow on Monday 19th March 2012 and jacking-up in the Western Bight in the same position as the Titan Rigs in 2010/2011.

The barge is owned by Fugro Seacore, who have been contracted by Eon to install the Met-Mast for the Rampion Offshore Windfarm.

Mobilisation will take approximately 2 weeks and the barge will then be towed out of the harbour and out to the windfarm site. Once the Met-Mast has been installed the Excalibur will be towed back into the Western Bight, jacked-up and de-mobilised. Final departure from Newhaven is expected to be approximately the last week of April 2012.

The dimensions of the jack-up barge are 60m x 32m.

There should be no danger to normal navigation, but small craft are advised not to approach too close to the barge for reasons of safety and security.

The eastern part of the promenade will be fenced off for the duration of the project for safety and security reasons
