Newhaven Port Emergency Exercise – Codename “Blondie”

Notice is hereby given that an Emergency Exercise will be undertaken within the Ferry Terminal Area on Wednesday 20th April 2011between the times of 1100 and 1400.

The exercise will simulate the escape of a large quantity of toxic, corrosive and explosive substance from a trailer parked within the Restricted Area of the port near to C-Gate Security entrance, but the effects will be further reaching.

All the emergency services will be in attendance and various areas of the port will be closed off for the exercise, including parts of the river itself. It is however not intended to disrupt anybody’s legitimate daily business activities.

There will therefore be increased activity within the harbour during the exercise and all persons not connected with the exercise are requested to keep clear of the area.

Your co-operation would be greatly appreciated and Mariners are requested to navigate with caution and pay strict attention to instructions issued to them by Newhaven Port Control. Call sign “Newhaven Radio” – VHF Channel 12. Tel. 01273 612926.
