Castle Hill Nature Reserve

On the cliffs adjacent to Newhaven Fort and close to the Marina, this nature reserve is a site of special scientific interest and offers one of the best views of Newhaven and Seaford Head. The chalk grassland has a multitude of plant life and birdlife including the rare dartford warbler and peregrine falcon.

Newhaven Fort

The Fort was built in the 1860's and has ramparts, guns and other original features which provide an exciting view of England's wartime past. Thanks to recent renovation, the fort is an enjoyable family destination. Situated on Castle Hill, close to and overlooking the Marina.
Open 10.30.am to 6.pm daily in summer, 10.30.am to 4.pm weekends in winter.

Newhaven Local and Maritime Museum

Situated next to Paradise Park, the Maritime Museum offers a wealth of local knowledge into the history of the town. Open 2.pm to 5.pm weekends, 2.pm to 4.pm daily in summer.

Ouse Estuary Nature Reserve

An exciting new open space on land to the east of the town, consisting of natural marshland and reedbeds at the mouth of the River Ouse. The reserve has a nationally important colony of great crested newts, a protected species.

Paradise Park

Something for all the family including a unique blend of exotic planthouses, and a vast garden and gift centre with terrace café overlooking the gardens. A museum of natural history with huge replica dinosaurs and a playzone with crazy golf and radio-controlled boats.

St Michael's Church

West Beach

Situated at the base of Newhaven Fort, and close to the Marina, this is one of the very few sandy beaches in East Sussex. The beach is next to the entrance to Newhaven harbour and is an excellent point from which to view cross-channel ferries, yachts and sailing boats.
